Help needed please!

I am with broadband and have a top box. When I disconnect my cable from the computer, there is a repeated noise, like a doorbell sound, to remind me I am disconnected from the internet. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the sound as it plays through any music I am playing on the PC. Thanks.

P.s It never used to happen, maybe there are settings to get rid of the problem.

hi goldyflocks :welcome: to Cable Forum :wavey:

possibly a silly question, but why are you disconnecting the cable, in the first place?

if you have windows,

go to your Control Panel and click on Sounds and Audio Devices
there you will can click on Sounds and go down uintil you see either: Device Connect or Device Disconnect. Right click whichever you want to get rid of and you will have lots of noises to choose from, go to the top of this list and choose None.

Hope this is what you are looking for.

Thanks for the welcome Home alone, I take the cable wire out so that my son can connect it to another point so he can watch cable tv. It is too expensive to run the internet and his cable tv together.

Thanks a lot Ikthius, the problem has gone. Yippeeeee!

Problem solved but, you pay broadband for an 'always on connection' same as you do for cable TV, there is no additional charge for a 'per use' basis for either service (with the exception of PPV channels).

Both services can be run at the same time with no additional cost other that your usual monthly bill

Hi Daxx

Thanks for info, I will look into this,I was told by the engineer that I would have to pay for another socket to be put in my sons bedroom. We are currently sharing the same socket, the cable wire leads into his bedroom underneath the floorboards.( I hope you understand what i mean) Cheers!

by hell theres some confusion around here !!!!!!!!!!!!!! , you obviously have dtv and broadband cable , you pay for both --- yes , you can use both at the same time , ok so you may have to pay for a point to be put into the bedroom but that is all , hang on , what type of set top box do you use ?????? , and do you have a stand alone cable modem for the broadband ???????? :)

If you want a second STB to be able to watch cable TV in both locations then you would have to pay an additional fee. If you only want cable TV in one location you can run an extended ethernet cable to the other location - Cat 5 UTP cables wull work up to 100m and are quite cheap.
