Waste of time.

:td: After attempting all day to resolve my e mail issues and even borrowing another computer and connecting directly to the set top box. Result, exactly the same problems. I am unable to resolve this with NTL and therefore have little choice but to go elsewhere. £75 + month is peanuts to NTL but I am amazed they do nothing to resolve the problem.

With 1m Customers they work on we got to a Million and hacked some people off in the process - Who have you moved to (or intending too)?

You haven't said what these issues are, there may be people around who can help.

But I did. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ad.php?t=20890

Even sent a mail to NTL and all I receive is a reference number. So it appears to be the Southampton area problem which I'm told I come under. If they are still having problems since April they shouls at least offer some sort of incentive to stay with NTl. Don't hear a word. But as a last resort I will support and speak to Gareth, the only one who appears interested.

Ah...Southampton!

Southampton broadband is, I understand, problematic generally.

Re: Waste of time.

:o Could this be the problem. I have 2 phone lines and two set top boxes. The internet comes from one box to the router. When I reset the router to factory settings as NTL support suggested I came up with a page that asked for my PID and password. got them from support. On the page it listed 3 computers yetI only have 2. Since been told it should not list any computers as it uses the router as registration. Could this be the problem? to this.

Are NTL still actively recruiting BB custom in Southampton? If they've been using the same marketing messages as up here in the grim North(ie promoting always-on email as a part of the package then I personally think a quick call to Trading Standards is in order because they know damn well they can't deliver on it. They need to understand that to some of us at least, email is integral to the service not some kind of fringe benefit.

:tu: I have already spoken to trading standards and they suggested I issue a summons to reclaim part of my broadband costs. I will have a word with a legal aquaintance on Monday to get his view.

Emulated,

Please keep me informed. I've been pointing out to NTL for some time the disparity betwen their marketing promises and Customer Services dismissive attitude to the integrity of email service, but they've consistently failed to see the point. If you get a favourable legal opinion.... class action anybody?!

I would be interested to see the legal outcome of this. ntl may have covered themselves with this section of the t & cs

but i will do a little more legal research into this when i have the time and inclination

EDIT: to be honest Emulated it sounds like your email problems are being caused by something interefering with the connection to the mail servers- Anti Virus scanning email and spam filtering are the most common causes. PM me for my msn address if you want some help and i'll have a look at your problems.

:( I am just waiting for support to answer, fed up with the woman keep telling to hold the line but the music is good. I have been told I need to access my intial page when I first had broadband. It seems I may have my computer registered but not the 2nd one of the router. The problem appears when I connect theough the router. Internet is ok and Netscape therefore say the router is not the problem if the firewall is off.
