Just about to return to NTL. Advice please?

Hi,

I was an NTL customer a few years back and they were cack. I'm under no mis-comprehension that they will be any better, but I just wanted to confirm a pricing option, and see what people think?

I'm just about to move house. I NNEEEEEEEEDD BB ASAP when I move into my new home. NTL can get an engineering our on Monday! (Compared to Bt's 29th Dec).

NTL seem to be offering free installation,
Half price BB for the first 3 months,
Free phone line for a year!!!

This seems almost too good to be true! Is it?

Is the free phone line, a version of the 3-2-1 calling plan but with a cost of £0, so all I pay is the call costs?

What happens if I leave before the year is up?

** I also noticed that there is an attenuator on the back of the cable modem. Does this indicate that there is a problem with the connection? Or could this be because I'm in a flat? **

Thanks.

you are tied into a 12 month contract with ntl. If you move house to a non cabled area within the contract period this will end the contract.

The attenuator will be there to stop problems with the connection ;)

The offer you have been given is the current offer and i know it is on the billing system so sounds perfectly ligitimate to me :)

ok. Cheers.

So if I move to a new place in about 8 months, could I take this package with me? Or would that be classed as a new contract (assuming my next house has NTL availablity)?

Do you know it's on the billing system because you're an employee by any chance? :D

Thanks.

Just to confirm MB does work for NTL, so if he says the offer is legit - it is.

The offer is indeed legit, and you'd be on the 321 plan.

I'd recommend asking them to give you the 5p plan instead, it's only £1 a month more. Instead of paying 2p a minute evening and 1p a minute weekend for landline calls, on the 5p plan these calls would cost just 5p for the whole first hour. (That's 5p for the whole hour, not 5p a minute). Much better value.

Yes...I have often noticed that.

On a separate note, I really ought to get my name changed to something a bit less obviously 'me'.

Thanks for all the info guys. My girlfriend (who I'll be moving in with) like using the phone for about an hour a night. We had come to the same conclusion regarding the 5p plan.

So, to confirm, would I be able to get the following:

Free installation,
Half price BB for the first 3 months (750K package),
The 5p call plan phone line for £1 per month for a year? (which is £10.50 - £9.50 discount)!!!

Thanks.

Im not sure but i think its either free line rental or 1/2 price for 3 months.
Also if you pay £1 extra and go on the 5p talk plan, you will get reduced rates to mobiles and only pay 5p for an off peak landlline call for the hour
