Help required Ipaq smtp settings with NTL

Very new here, a guy told me about it from T mobile. I wondered if anyone could help. I have an Ipaq 1940 and a Nokia 6230, had problems getting them to pair but got the dl from hp site for the bluetooth and that went well. Am using T mobile with the number *99# to connect via GPRS which will browse the net and will allow me to receive email but when I try to send it says email address is wrong. Tmobile suggested changing smtp from ntlworld.com to t-email.co.uk but ipaq just sits saying connecting for ever and I have to soft reset. Another guy said I should tick the verification option on outgoing but that makes no difference either. He said NTL mat stop t-email from working but trying to find someone at ntl to talk to seems impossible! Any help would be highly appreciated:Yikes: I only bought this set up so I could mail on the go and it aint working!!!

If you're connecting to the net via t-mobile then you cannot send via ntl. This is pretty much the case with every ISP and is there to stop people spamming.

POP-3 will allow you to collect your mail from your home ISP (ntl) via another ISP (t-mobile) but SMTP will not let you send.

The way around this is to set your identity as xxxx@ntlworld.com but use the t-mobile SMTP server to send. Continue with your settings as ntl as your POP server.

If you're having problems sending via t-mobile, you might want to check that they haven enabled you on their system. If it still doesn't work then it's their problem and the line he fed you about ntl blocking t-mobile on your mobile is utter rubbish - it's their network!

Good luck.
