Just had it installed today how long does it take for it to tune in as its been like this for over 6hrs now

Sounds like a dodgy STB. But don't take my word for it, an NTL bod will reply shortly. :D

Sounds dodgy it only normally takes an hour to get a hit.

This will only take a short time "

and on the STB it has " Tune " on it and this has been like this for over 9hrs now i was gonna switch the box off but i dont want to muck it up

The STB down stairs which is the main one as im in my bedroom so ive got 2nd box but the one down stairs is the same and yes i thought the cable tv goes on straight away or 1hr but 9hrs this is just stupid
so is it safe to turn off box then turn on again even if it says dont turn off box?

how did the engineer test it ?

i have just had a replacment stb the eng waited until it was working correctly

Hi if the box says tune then you have a problem ring ntl for fix or switch the box off at the wall for 30 seconds.

how are they installing today though? nobody will be at the office to send a hit to the box? :confused: maybe they are pre registered on the system but thats news to me.

Lastly Orange Boy,

Switch the STB off at the mains, hold the arrow facing down on the right hand side of the STB, keep the arrow withheld and then switch the power back on, dont let go of the arrow until boot which may look like 600t appears on the display of the box.

Call into faults tomorrow though 0800 052 2000 even if that gets the STB working it will happen again and the install has failed.

Ive turned it off from 30 seconds and tried the one down stairs but no luck it still has " Tune " on the front of the box this is really stupid service
So now my dad is going to phone them up tomorrow and hopelly it be fixed. I can see why ntl has bad reptuation

Tried to reboot the down stairs one no luck still says " Tune "
and we didnt get any tech out at 02:22 what u on about? i came home then wanted to see if my cable box was all working and it didnt work

Urm you get this ntl card which is on the left of the STB
you get 2 slots what slot should the card be in, top or bottom?

bottom, and you still havent tried the down arrow reboot, its not difficult you ask for help i give you help and you ignore it.

Hey dont get in a stress please when you say the down arrow reboot that to me means nothing as i was looking for a button called reboot just a mistake now ive pressed the down arrow button and ive even holded it for 10 seconds but no reboot if thats what u meant
