Problems Help!!!
 

i really need help as this problem has been going on for sometime :Yikes:

*system details are below*

My connection will not stream online media, especially when using windows media player, it says the proxy settings are incorrect

*Online Internet Games will not connect properly to the internet and detect servers

*gamespy does not detect servers

*applications cannot download files (AVG, AdAware, things like that)

*SYSTEM DETAILS*
windows xp home edition service pack 1
ntl: broadband 300k (via cable modem)
USB connection

any help appreciated

Are you using a firewall of some kind? (e.g. XP firewall?) and have you specified a proxy server in WMP somehow? I didn't think you could, if you have, you shouldn't need to.

i have a ZoneAlarm Personal Firewall but i hardly ever have this activated so that cant be the problem, the xp firewall i know not of, but it hasnt caused problems before

hi and :welcome: to the site , a note of caution , use a firewall ;)

put your zonealarm firewall on and if you want to connect, and you know of the program, and you want it to connect let it and make a rule for it, to remember. just a tick, then it will let you go to certain sites and still be protected.

you firewalls may be conflicting, so use zonealarm and turn off windows firewall.
