Can't send email - error code 452 0x800CCC6C
 

For the last ten days I haven't been able to send emails via mt NTL broadband STB. Although I can send emails via telephone ISPs and NTL's WEBMail.
I received an error code of 452 Email rejected by ISP code 0x800CCC6C. I normally use Outlook Express but I also tried Mosilla Thunderbird - same effect.

Got through to NTL Tech (email) support 3 times. without any solution.
This morning they got me to change the smtp server address from smtp.ntlworld.com to 62.253.162.40 ie its TCPIP address. Email now works, but am I running into danger leaving the TCPIP address in the account settings?

If I ping smtp.ntlworld.com I get a TCPIP of 212.250.162.8 (pings ok). I do a reverse lookup on 62.253.162.40 and it tells me that it is smtp.ntlworld.co.uk. How is it possible for one URL to have two TCPIP addresses?

There are current problems (again) with ntl's email 'service'.
