Leeds LS17 Packet Loss (Slow gaming/browsing)
 

I wonder if anyone else in this area is having the same trouble. The same symptoms (probably/possibly same fault) occurred and was cured about 1 month ago. Thread is here :-

The problem started some time today, it was fine this morning and at 17:30 was bad. Exactly the same problem again, approx 40% - 50% packet loss when passing to/through one particular router.

leed-t2core-a-ge-wan64.inet.ntl.com (80.0.241.41) 100% ok
leed-t2core-a-ge-wan61.inet.ntl.com (80.0.241.33) 40%'ish packet loss
leed-t2core-b-ge-wan61.inet.ntl.com (80.0.241.161) 100% ok
leed-t2core-b-ge-wan64.inet.ntl.com (80.0.241.169) 100% ok

I have loads of ping plots showing the losses.

BBkings got involved last time, saying there was a "bizarre problem" and he would get the problem raised, and sure enough, the following day the problem had gone.

Hopefully he may be able to do the same again, assuming of course it is the same problem. :dozey:

I'm positive it's of no relevance, but I'm connected through a Pace STB, and a network, although I am now connected directly, as I know the network will get blamed when I call tech support with it in place.

OK,

It was bad for two hours, and 10 minutes after writing the initial post, the packet loss stopped and all is well.

So I guess no help is needed, unless it goes bad again, hmm, hope that doesn't happen, an intermittant problem is far more difiicult to cure.

<Crosses fingers and hopes the problem is gone for at least another month>

I am having similar problems here in LS2,
I am gettting about 70% packet loss, the modem has been having problems getting a lock as well, any ideas? as all access is stupid at the moment..

Not related to Lossy's issue sounds more like a CATV problem, and probably a specific fault to you.

ahhh bugger, I was hoping it might be easier than that :)
bingo, I think I have found it, I have a downstream signal of -15/-16 ish who are the best peopleto talk to for getting that sorted?

No worries. The usual suspects are the people to speak to, tech support or customer services.
If you have something marked with 'forward path conditioner' or similar with 3, 6 or 12db on it in between the cable modem and the coax coming in remove it if you can, will improve things.

turns out it was my signal levels, 10 mins with the engineer and I am happy again.
