Username availability
 

I've just closed my NTL account and they have deleted my webspace and I can no longer recieve email from that account. How long before I can set up the old username on my Fiancee's NTL account. At the moment I get Username already in use when I try to do so.

Ooh, a long while. I think ntl hold the username as unavailable for at least 90 days, just in case you want to come back to them (they are very hopeful).

Also allocating an account somewhere else too soon means that email could go to wrong recipients without knowing, rather like snail mail does. Not a good idea.

I'd give CS a call. They might have a way that they can allocate your old email addy to another account, on the basis that you can prove who you say you are, and also that you can prove you are legitimately able to use your girlfriend's account. You might need both of you present, as inevitably passwords and stuf might have to be disclosed.

I was told a couple of years ago that it was 6 months, dunno if that's still the case.
