'550 relaying mail to *** is not allowed'
Hi guys,
I am getting the following error message when sending email to some domains (such as york.ac.uk and macrovision.com). The email addresses do exist as I can send the same emails from my hotmail account. The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was '***@york.ac.uk'. Subject 'Alight Boss', Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 relaying mail to york.ac.uk is not allowed', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 Any ideas?? Cheers, David |

Re: '550 relaying mail to *** is not allowed'
Just had a sudden thought. Now i'm at Uni i have a BT broadband account, is ntl stopping me sending emails because it is not an NTL account... However, it is allowing me to send some emails.

Then that is why it fails, you cannot use ntl's smtp server unless you are on ntl's network (except to send to ntl mail accounts). You will have to change it to BT's smtp server.
