Shockwave 8

Are 'Shockwave 8' and 'Macromedia Flash Player 6' related in any way?
Sometimes I get asked if I wish to install and run 'Macromedia Flash Player 6'
I have searched for files on my computer but can only find ones re 'Shockwave 8' therefore I am uncertain whether to install Flash Player.

Thank you

You usually require the Shockwave and Flash plug-in on your machine. They are quite similar in what they do and are both produced by Macromedia.

They run seperate kinds of online animations and multimedia content. You might as well install both since they take up very little space on your PC.
