Snow on cable channel
Hello there. Sorry, I'm new here so this may have been done to death.
Does anyone get "snow" (lots of tiny white dots) on their screen when on the cable channel on their TV? It doesn't appear on mainstream channels (though obviously still receiving through the ntl box), but when going through channel 6 on the TV, even the mainstream channels have a snow effect in the background. It may be some tuning problem with the telly, but I don't think it is. Thanks. Buzz |
Re: Snow on cable channel
have you had the fault since you got your cable installed?

Re: Snow on cable channel
Hello.
As far a we remember it only appeared after we went onto ntl digital. Maybe I should have mentioned the digital aspect? The only other variable is that we bought a cheapie dvd player, so we have the dvd player on the bottom, the old vhs recorder on top of that and the ntl box on top of that. Oh dear...... |
Re: Snow on cable channel
So, when you say 'mainstream' channels 1-5, presumably you mean analogue signals from your aerial, then when you go onto channel 6 you're getting input from the box?
Sounds like either your channel 6 is badly tuned on your telly, or one of the cables in one of the many boxes you have is not properly seated. Also, if you're using channel 6 for your set-top box, I'm guessing that means you're not using something nice like a SCART to join your STB to your TV? You would get a much better picture on all your cable channels if you invest in a SCART cable. You would then use your TV's AV channel to view cable TV. |

But the SCART route would definately be the best option. |
Re: Snow on cable channel
Chris,
Thanks. No, channels 1-5 also come through the stb. The dvd and the vhs recorder both attach to the back of the tv via scart connectors, then the stb via coax to..... No, I think I've lost it. I'm going to have to put on a fallout suit and tackle the spaghetti junction behind it all. Let you know! Thanks again everybody. Confused or wot? |

Channel 6 is the only one being generated by the STB. |
