Have no idea how to record telewest signal
Hi all,
i am a little ignorant when it comes to these things, but i want to try to set up my video to record a sky sports event this weekend - i have bought a scart lead which i presume i run from the telewest box to the video machine itself, but it appears to be the wrong type of lead to fit the sockets ..... i thought all scarts were the same - thats how much i know!!! would be greatful for any pointers anyone could give me many thanks in advance gilesb |
Re: Have no idea how to record telewest signal
Hi & Welcome to the site. :welcome:
If its a "SCART" (Industry standard) lead then it should fit into a "SCART" socket, they are a strange fitting (see diagram below), make sure the scart plug is the right way up to fit the shape of the socket and ensure that none of the 20 pins on the scart plug are bent out of place, as that will prevent it going into the scart socket. :) |
Re: Have no idea how to record telewest signal
hey mick - thanks for your response - so basically any scart should do the trick?
my digital cable signal is currently coming into the house into the cable box and then via a scart lead to my tv. Am i right i thanking that if i want to record the cable signal, i will need to have the digital signal run from the output "VCR" scart point on the back of the telewest box, into a scart port on the VRC machine and then into the TV from the VCR machine ?? then i must tune in a channel using the video tuning? - or do you think maybe i use the AV1 or AV2 channels ? thanks once again in advance Gilesb |

The following diagram has been posted before courtesy of the member altis. :)
All you need to look at here is the connections from the TV, Video and STB, ignore the Hi-Fi part of the connections. Hope this helps. (Thanks once again to altis for the diagram). |

Re: Have no idea how to record telewest signal

Re: Have no idea how to record telewest signal
Does the scart plug look like this?
http://www.home-cinema-guide.co.uk/51.jpg If so, it should definitely go into the scart socket which looks like:- http://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/scart-socket.gif |
