Memory problems

I replaced my Asus A7n8x as it had a capacitor that had started whining, a shame, as it was a very stable motherboard. I chose an ABIT NF7-S 2.0 as I'd heard good things about them, I also bought a 512mb stick of Corsair CMX 3200 LLPT memory, trouble is, if I use that memory in this board the PC constantly reboots with all sorts of BSOD's, if I take it out and put in my sh*tey generic PC3200/2700 mix, it works perfectly. Is this a known problem with the Abit boards or am I doing something tremendously wrong?

Re: Memory problems

It can be a problem, it also depends what slot you have it in, try them all, I couldn't get mine to run it dual channel mode unless I put it in the slots it specified not to put them in!

Re: Memory problems

It's nothing to do with the dual channel setup as it blue screens when it's on it's own. I'm just shocked that so called quality memory that costs me £129 for a single 512mb stick is that flakey, I certainly won't be buying Corsair again :(

I recommend you go and buy the cheapest nastiest memory you can ... just like I did, works like a charm and I still hit nearly 6000 with 3d mark 05.

Brand new, supposedly tested duff stick of ram, either way I'm far from impressed.

I'm running 1GB of Corsair XMS Pro and have never had RAM problems.

So you got a bad stick of RAM, it happens.
Don't blame Corsair because it could happen to any manufacturer.

Refund hopefully, I was hoping to nail it down to a problem elsewhere, e.g. timings, BIOS etc, but it looks just to be faulty.

as long as they will accept it back as faulty then i suppose you are ok , what makes me wonde though is how much better it will be compared to generic s**t ram :erm:

Its nothing to do with being branded or not, it's down to the timings and overclockability. You can buy sh*t branded memory if you wanted to, but the stuff I bought was low latency
