Maximum STBs?
Maximum STBs.
Out of curiosity, how many STBS can you have in a house (I have a feeling it is four) - but what happens if you request an amount of boxes larger than this figure? |
Re: Maximum STBs?
I have four... i am not sure if there is a restriction on the number that you can have
edit... ooh 2000 posts :D |

Re: Maximum STBs?
Nice one MB!
when i had Sky put in, the eng's next job was a house with 7 boxes! On Sky you can have 4 per dish so that was a 2 dish deal! dunno 'bout ntl |
Re: Maximum STBs?
I think it's similar with NTL, 4 devices per cable. Though you can have the cable that takes the stronger signal. But at £15 a month each for many boxes that would be one helluva bill.

Re: Maximum STBs?
Actually no limit (there used to be) but this might be just the N/W area
|
Re: Maximum STBs?
i would guess as many as they can connect to the cable before the signal gets to weak for them to work?
|
Re: Maximum STBs?
I've seen 8 on an account (+ cable modem)
As is said above if the cable can take the signal and the customer is happy to pay we'll supply them. |
Re: Maximum STBs?
So the limit used to be down to the older billing systems and Harmony can cope with unlimited?
|
Re: Maximum STBs?
You onlu used to be able to have 3 if i remember.
you can have as many as you want with the hdu's (i believe they are called) because there is no loss when you split the signal. I have got an RG11 and RG6 pull live to the house and the RG6 is not split so plenty of expansion :) |
Re: Maximum STBs?
Alternatively, they can fit an amplifier instead of a splitter. IIRC it's called an HDU.
