Any one use a Dell Latitude C600 Lappie ??
 

Just aquired a s/h Dell Latitude C600 (PIII 750) laptop and am having trouble getting the '3Com mini modem/lan device to work'.

Have downloaded what I think are the correct drivers from dell.co.uk but nothing shows in Network Props or Device Manager. There is reference to Network Adapters in both locations but not the ethernet bit. I cannot get anything to show up using 'winipcfg' either (just PPP Adapter).

Anyone familiar enough with this m/c to give a 'talk through' ?

Is the Nic/modem built in or on a pcmcia card ?

Think the tag was slightly dyslexic (from memory as not at home atm) ! :dozey:

But I agree that is most likely the right driver file. Dell reckons I should install to Device Manager>Other Devices>PCI Communications ?? not Net Adapters ?? :erm:

If you download it and run the exe, it will unpack and then execute I believe

Yup .. got it ! :) D/l the file you pointed to. Ran it on the lappie and installed to the PCI Ethernet Device in Device Manager and hey presto up and running in minutes ! :D

All the time I was loading the drivers to the Network Adapter which is where I figured they should go ? :dunce:

All I got to do now is install Spywareblaster, AdAware, Spybot, HiJack This, etc, etc. (AV and Firewall already running - I'm no mug !!)

Yup..I keep all my downloads on CD's, quicker than d/l ;)
