networking

Hi all. I been using a ntl cable modem for a few years now and had up to 5 rigs networked and all connected to the net but not without problems.
can anyone state the best way to connect the cable modem ie: usb or lan..;)

Get yourself a router (and a 5 port switch for the best possible performance) and run everything on CAT5.

You probably won't understand what I'm on about here but I run a star configuration on a peer to peer network and it runs like a dream.

How can you run anything other than a * from a 5 port router?

Could run a token ring if you had the right equipment, but we're getting OT now. ;)

You would need a token though. Must say one of the fastest corporate networks I ever used was an IBM token ring. TCP/IP has made tokens rather old fashioned now though.
