The title of the thread becomes clear when you find out that it is the next step in the unification of the windows graphical sub-system (directx 3D and direct draw 2D).

If previous Inquirer reporting is anything to go by, I'd expect it to be total rubbish, but we'll have to wait and see... no release dates from M$ .. I'll do some digging though.
