What went wrong?

I suppose this could be put in gaming but more people read this part plus the problem is a hardware one.

Just installed Doom 3 but won't initialize. This is the error message:

I don't do gaming but the first thing that came to my mind was Direct X so I'm downloading it as I type - but if that's not the problem then does anybody know what it may be?

Anybody know what that problem may be?

Think that'l be your problem then m8, don't think it supports the game.

Could be wrong though, so may be worth upgrading DX to the latest version and seeing what happens.

Not compatible, I think. Check id's website to confirm, but I think you need a more recent card (even if it is campatible, it will run like a 3-legged dog, I'm afraid)

Same card as I have, if I had Doom 3 I could say if it worked or not :erm:

It would probably work at 320x280 on low detail*, you'd also need the newest drivers to ensure you have the latest OpenGL version.

*I've seen it running on a Voodoo5 in this forum before. :D

I've had it running (if you can call it that) on my laptop's radeon 7500 - at a whole 2 - or even 3 fps :)

I'd say that even if the card would run it - it would be virtually impossible to play...

Just an idea - are you running this from a shortcut on the desktop? Have you tried running the exe file directly from the install directory....

I can't be bothered lol. Far too tired. I'll try tomorrow.

I guess I'm just behind the times with my hardware.

Thanks guys :tu:
