Gearbox needs your attention... oh yeah?

This one pops up every few months. On dial-up to the net, I get 'Gearbox needs your attention at this time', or 'Gearbox is updating' (followed as night follows day by: 'Update failed. Try again later.')
Gearbox NEVER needs my attention, and doesn't get it.
I tried emailing ntl once about this, but got no reply and don't really expect one.
Does the message mean anything worth investigating? Or shall I carry on being grumpy and ignoring it?
Allen.

Gearbox? Are NTL STILL using that?I ditched it as soon as I could and manually configured dial-up.As long as you have your password, username and a phone number I don't believe you need Gearbox. However I'm sure someone else with much more IT smarts than me can better inform you. ;)

Incog. :)

as Incog says, so long as you have a note of the username, password & phone number, you might as well uninstall Gearbox & get rid of its annoying messages, for good :)
