NTL and Philips HDRW720

Hi,

I'm new around here. I've just started unpacking my new philips hdrw720 and was wondering if anybody in this forum have managed to set it up with NTL.

I'm having all sorts of problems with guideplus and getting the channel line up entered in the internal tuner.
Anyone would like to share their experience.

Well, I just did a search, and it's never been mentioned on the forums at all before, so it will be intersting to see if anyone else has one, - btw - :welcome:

I dont think you'll get Guideplus working because it relies on being able to change the channel. So you'd probably get Channels 1-4 on it but it probably wont work with NTL Channels.

Apparantly it CAN be done, but you may need a splitter (to use a UHF signal for GUIDE plus+ updates)and something called "The RED-EYE" see http://www.redremote.co.uk/ for details

See www.redremote.co.uk/dvdr80.html for details on setting up GuidePlus+ with NTL boxes - this was written for the DVDR80 but the HDRW720 ought to be the same.

Gooner4life, thanks for your interest.
And which "few minor details" would those be???

I know about the red-eye, and know that it is necessary to transform NTL boxes rf signals into irda (or the opposite way around, whichever), and I ordered one.

No, my question was more an invitation to share experience with other owners of the beast, which frankly isn't as intuitive as the recent philips TV advert would lead you to believe.
