Pixellating pictures on all channels
 

Just wondering if there is a problem in ST16? For the past couple of weeks the pictures have started to become pixellating especially on fast moving images.

I get that on some channels at some times. AFAIAA there are two major causes:

1. Unacceptable power level - This is where the power level that comes from NTL (not the 3 pin electric socket, the co-ax cable). It has an acceptable bounds, and if it is too high, or low, you will get picture problems. If anything your power would be too high. If you check the power (go here) and it is out of the acceptable bounds, then call NTL and have an engineer come out and put a restricter on it.

2. High internet traffic - People have said that high internet bandwidth (if you have broadband through a set-top-box), particularly when lots of ports are open, with latent traffic, like with P2P like Kazaa and Shareaza/EDonkey, it can cause pixelation. They solution is to go to a stand aone modem I think (Or stop P2Ping whle watching TV)

You should see some SKY DIGITAL pictures before complaining about NTL's. Four out of five of my neighbours (I get on with all of them) have SD and I've seen their pictures, which are appaling compaired to my NTL picture. I'm very happy with my cable! Infact one of them is considering changing to NTL (he's fussy like me with picture quality).

I never had a problem with Sky pictures except for in heavy rain..since moving to uni and being force to get ntl cos we aint got a bt line here ive been appuled by the poor picture quality, terrbile compression, its like its 80kps or something...shocking. BB keeps dieing aswell

really not happy with ntl, i miss sky and firefly :(
