Sounds like your recording an NTSC signal and the either the Video or the TV cant handle it. AFAIK the NTL box cant output an NTSC signal. Is your video recording OK on terrestrial channels?

Do you have one of the old 4001 boxes, with the video output set to s-video? If so, try setting it to composite instead.

cheers 4 the help.
recording stuff on terrestrial channels is fine its just when i go 2 tape via NTL i get the b/w. iv got 2 boxes both set up the same way but only get the prob on 1 of them. iv got 2 options either RGB/composite @ the mo its set 2 composite.

Composite should be fine. When you say you only get the problem on one of the boxes im assuming your using a differnet tv for each box.

Check the scart input to the tv and make sure its not set to S-video or NTSC

If you plug a TV into the VCR SCART socket on the STB do you get colour?
If you plug the VCR into the TV SCART socket on the STB and do a recording, is that in colour?
Is it possible to watch live TV through the VCR? If so, is that in colour?
