Cable modem status.

I have been recently having a connection problem (which I made a thread about).
I'll not get into the details of my problem now, but I have a question about the a cable modem's
config status. In this: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ad.php?t=16877 thread someone said something about upload and download status.

Could someone explain this as I think I may have this problem. :)

If you follow MB information he posted here , he tells you how to access the modems configeration and that is where you get the details from others was posting in that thread.

Yep as kits says that i said... that is how to do it :)

One additional note, if you have a proxy server specified, you will either need to deselect this, or add 192.168.100.1 to the list of addresses to bypass in the advanced options.

Yeah, I accessed that. Heres my status:

Is that normal or what?

When I had low downstream around -2.25 and upstream transit level near 54.5 to 55. I had a unstable connection.

The engineer went in the box and changed something and my connection is 100% better.

Do you think that could be my problem?

What was your connection like before the guy fixed it?

Re: Cable modem status.

yes something similar to that dropping the interent is the modem rebooting. I am sure the upload and download figures are your problem.I was told that upstream transit level max is 55 yours was 64 this is what caused the modem to reboot. IMPO. My figures are:
Quote:

Downstream Receive Power Level : 1.68 dBmv
Downstream SNR : 32.38 dB
Upstream Transmit Power Level : 50.75 dBmv
that is the largest gap I have between them both since the alteration @ the box I havent been in the - figures also never higher than 51 since.

Thanks for your help. :)

I'll phone CS tomorrow and *hopefully* get a guy out to fix the problem.
