My Pace 4001 STB is currently locked up - display shows "PACE" and no amount of resetting will change it. Ntl operator suggested reset by:
- turn off power
- press and hold channel down button (on front of box)
- turn power on
This should have initiated a diagnostics cycle but it did nothing. Does this mean the box is definitely dead or does this not work on a 4001?

(Usual lousy service from ntl. Took 40 mins to get an answer yesterday, operator promised to phone back to send diagnostic signals but didn't. Phoned again in the evening but gave up after 30 mins. Got an answer this morning after 30 mins but now their "system is down" for the weekend so no diagnostics and no engineer appointment. They've promised to call back.....................ha!!!)

I suggest maybe try turning power off totally for say an hour or two? might do nothing but worth try ? [you might of done this already?]

also I am not sure if holding in the page up & page down buttons on stb brings up engineer menu ? maybe try this see if anything is wrong?

or as you say wait for ntl to maybe call you back lol
