New to NTL Broadband

Is it possible to retreive emails through Outlook Express from another ISP?.
In fact, other email accounts apart from ntlworld?.
If so, please advise on what to do.
Be grateful for any advice, thanks.

Hi gbw and a big :welcome: to cableforum... :)

It is indeed possible to recieve mails while on an NTL connection. You will only however be able to send mail from the NTL account when on the NTL network.

This is an anti spam feature that 99.9% of all ISP's addopt.

Hi Stuartbe, thanks for the welcome :handshake
I won't begin to tell you the trouble I have had registering my connection, its been 3 weeks!!.
Can I be really thick and ask how I should setup the email account to receive please.
I have my own domain name through my business and wish to access my 'Demon' account to utilise the broadband connection. As I have ADSL at work I can't reroute everything through NTL, so I have to keep this seperate at home.
It's so long since I've done this - I need a refresher course!.
Grateful thanks

It's simple really, but youll need your demon account settings:

Start Outlook Express From the menus Tools > Accounts click new

Should start a wizard.

Give the account a name. On the next screen put in your email addy for the demon account.

On the next screen you need details of the servers. Presumably your demon server is a POP3 type, something like pop.demon.com (put the correct details in there). For the outgoing server put smtp.ntlworld.com

The next screen is details of your demon account logon, and its password

And that's it

*edit: You can get sophisticated and look at the properties for the account you have set up to leave stuff on the server for a few days and such like if you have to connect from two different locations. Using the ntl smtp server for the outgoing connection will let you send mail using the ntl connection only but any one replying would reply to your demon addy. If they interrogate the mail headers though they'll know you sent via ntl, and I believe that might fall foul of some antispam systems that try to authenticate addys and servers.

Thanks - MovedGoalPosts
Have set up the account using my Demon settings, now keeps asking for my password, with a password rejected error notice, must be something I have missed or needs changing - I'll have a play and report back.
Must be a simple solution?
