FTP Problem

For the last 2 days i have not been able to upload anything to my NTL webspace, it takes an age to connect and once it does finally manage to connect i'm not able to upload a thing. Anyone else having problems?

Have you tried switching to passive mode (or vice versa) some servers will take an age to connect if it's not enabled.

Yup tried everything. Its been working fine up until yesterday, maybe its an area fault. I have no problems with lycos and geocities.

Seeing exactly these problems in the Leeds area, started on late Friday/Early Saturday.
FTP to my webspace is a joke (20 minutes plus for 160k!!), queries to websites take an age to upload but responses are instant, similarly email downloads rapidly and uploads at snail speeds.... it's making my main online games pretty much unplayable.

It's not a virus or spyware or adware problem... all checked over several times with Norton antivirus, Trend online checker, Ad-Aware,, SpyBot... monitoring data transfer shows nothing at all untoward trying to use my bandwidth - I'm absolutely certain it's an NTL problem.

Tried logging the problem with the Broadband 'online technical support' ... left it 20 minutes, gave up on seeing any answer, chose the 'I've to go away' option since that seemed to at least imply I could come back later and pick up on the problem - and now I can't get beyond 'Sorry all our tech support people are busy, please try later' message! Good to see the old tactic of 'keep you on hold forever until you lose the will to live' is alive and well in a new form...
