How Many In my Area

Is there anyway of finding out how many people are connected to my "green box" ? Im assuming that the people only within a certain radius of the box are on the same connection as me?

Dont understand the workings of NTL or any other isp or how they share bandwidth.

There was a great guide posted here a few months back (at least I think it was this site) It was a link to a powerpoint slideshow.

Sadly I can't find it but someone else might have better luck. It explained the basics on how cable modems shared an area. I'll keep looking and if I find it I'll post a link.

EDIT - Found it tucked away. Might be a bit technical but gives the basic points.

Thankyou, always wondered about "Contention Ratio" seen it posted in many posts on here.

Does a lower Contention ratio = a more stable service or am i reading between the lines to much?

Might be a bit out of date too! Things have changed a *lot* since that was written.
