Re: a yummy link
After sat in hospital this afternoon reading a copy of yorkshire life from last year I spotted a piece on Dobsons (http://www.dobsons.co.uk/) a local firm that have been making boiled sweets since 1850 (thats a lot of fillings!)
Yorkshire Mixtures anyone - here's where they originated... |

Re: a yummy link
I can think of a few old fashioned sweet shops. There's one in Lincoln halfway up Steep Hill. There's one in Whitby and we once found one somewhere on the the Isle of Wight (although we never found the shopkeeper; it was the confectionery version of the Mary Celeste). I think we could do with more old fashioned sweet shops on our high streets but I suppose that they wouldn't make enough money to compete with the banks, building societies and charity shops.
