Re: NTL Webspace rules??
I remember only one thread where someone was hosting a large mpeg movie file that NTL deleted before they contacted the user as a large proportion of the internet seemed to be downloading it.
Apart from that serve away. Family pictures, videos etc are not likely to be a problem. Generally it seems to be pretty fast space, images come through quickly. |
Re: NTL Webspace rules??
The problem with a funny mpeg or flash movie, is when it gets spotted on one forum, posted to two more, members from there post it to their favourite forums and newsgroups - and then it does seem like half the internet is downloading it!
The site for "calmira" - the Win95-alike frontend for Win3.1, had a case of bandwith trouble way back on Demon internet, and they had a VERY fair way of dealing with high bandwith users sites - all the "bad boys" got thrown onto a single server with limited banwidth that they all contend for. PS. Calmira lives on, just about, but a DOMAIN HIJACKER CYBERSQUATTED the old domain - the EVIL, NAFF searching.net that seems to be on hundreds of expired domains, and always asks if it can be your home page (at least it asks, but I'd like to filter and ban that script, or maybe just put a permanent firewall block on their lousy IP address). Rant (and googlebomb) over - I was a Calmira user for quite some time! |
