How do I change the UHF frequency broadcast from the NTL STB box?

I recently purchased a Panasonic HD/DVD-Recorder and have noticed that there seems to be some kind of interference coming from the NTL box when using standard terrestrial channels, particularly BBC2. †“ I have been able to change the UHF frequency that the Pansonic unit uses but there still seems to be some interference coming from the NTL box (doesnââ‚Ãâ €šÂ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t exist when NTL is removed from the loop) .. I know there is a way of changing the UHF channel directly from the box (i.e holding two or more of the buttons similar to a soft-reset) but am not sure of the method.. so if anyone can help it would be most appreciated.

Ah, a chance to shine! OK, you hold down both up and down on the STB to get to the Engineer's Menu after a soft reboot, on the second page should be an option to change the RF frequency the STB outputs to, theres also a way to do it on the DTV-4000 bit I forget how... I'm probably way off base but I know I tried huh?

Engineers menu? Be VERY careful if you ever go into that menu becauses should you mess up a setting you could end up having to pay for a proper NTL engineer to come come out and put it right.

Yes, the Engineer Menu does sound like a last resort... so any method that does not require the EM would be ideal..

Can you not adjust the output from the HD/DVD? I had a frequency clash with the STB and new video recorder we got but we could alter the output frequency on the video itself.

Part of the problem is a tech guy came out a year back .. a number of changes where made to see if a problem could be corrected and I recall he made changes to the UHF frequency from its 'standard' setting.. this change seems to be conflicting now with the new hardware, hence a need to get it back to default.. or move it up/down a notch.

No mate, the only way to RF the digi STB's output is from the Engineering Screens. As has been said previously, be careful that you only change the Output frequency. Check the channel table on you're tv, and then reset the STB's out put accordingly.

You can definitely change the RF channel without going into the engineering screens on some of the boxes. But I can't remember the details off the top of my head (OK+Right+TV on the 12-button boxes? Or does that disable the IR???)

Anyway, I'll look it up tomorrow, and post the answer.

I do remember that it is possible as you say, some form of button combination similar to the soft-reset.. but can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Hope you find the info..

Thanks..

Can't do it

I say to write down the original channel in case you make a mess of things and need to return to the original setting.

Worked a treat, thanks .. moved it from 21 to a higher value (it was previously around 69 I do believe) and either way the issue has been resolved.

Great stuff..
