Poxy Proxy servers
 Is there currently an issue with the proxy servers? When I use the default (ie no proxy server set) I cant get a web page, when I then ping all of the proxy serversi I mostly get timeouts, or very long ping times eg
Pinging cache1-blfs.server.ntli.net [62.254.32.4] with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Ping statistics for 62.254.32.4: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss), Pinging cache2-blfs.server.ntli.net [62.254.32.5] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 62.254.32.5: bytes=32 time=62ms TTL=247 Reply from 62.254.32.5: bytes=32 time=29ms TTL=247 Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Ping statistics for 62.254.32.6: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss), Pinging cache4-blfs.server.ntli.net [62.254.32.7] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 62.254.32.7: bytes=32 time=29ms TTL=247 Request timed out. Re: Poxy Proxy servers
sounds like a problem with your connection rather than the proxies, for example from here:
Reply from 62.254.32.7: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=247 Reply from 62.254.32.7: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=247 Reply from 62.254.32.7: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=247 Reply from 62.254.32.7: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=247 Reply from 62.254.32.7: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=247 try running a speed test on www.pcpitstop.com/internet/bandwidth.asp and see what results you get. Make sure you have no other applications accessing the internet at the same time. MB |
Re: Poxy Proxy servers
This is the results I got back from the test
Download Speed 872 Kilobits/second Download Test Size 402 KBytes Download Time 3.685 seconds Receive Buffer Size Not available BTW- I'm on the 1mb connection (allegedly) |
Re: Poxy Proxy servers
can you run the blueyonder speed test
http://www.broadbandspeedtest.net/download/ and post back the results |
Re: Poxy Proxy servers
I've downloaded the speed test, but when I run it I get errorr cannot retrieve a list of service providers from speed test website (error 10060)

Re: Poxy Proxy servers
Would you beleive, all back to normal now, I can even run the speed test, I wonder if NTL have changed something in my area
|
NTL Proxy Issue
There would seem to be some issues with the default NTL proxies used for the Reading area at the moment (Winnersh proxy I believe).
When I go to Tom's Hardware while connected by the default proxy, my browsers (Firefox and IE) are unable to connect to their advert server. Switching to a different proxy, NTL or non-NTL, and it is able to connect with no problems. Obviously in this instance, not being served with adverts is not necessary the greatest problem in the world, but I`m forced to wonder whether other sites or elements of pages could potentially be blocked due to this issue. I would call NTL, but I'll be damned if I`m paying for a premium rate call to tell them this. |
Re: NTL Proxy Issue
"touch wood" no such issues here at the moment
am using a BT DNS server and the default proxy Location : Lower Earley Browser : MYIE2 |
