Leaving NTL, but will listen to offers
The main reason is that I can easily find a 1mbit broadband account for less than £30. Even allowing for initial setup charges, it will work out cheaper over the year.
So, I rang NTL to ask if they will price-match. The operator said that they are already veery competitive and then passed me to the cancellations dept, where I have been given a date when they will come to collect my stb, cancel internet and phone line. Now, is there any possibility that somebody from NTL will phone up and offer me a deal comparable to the cheaper ADSL ISPs, or shall I just go ahead and sign up with BT (phone) and then an ADSL ISP afterwards? I would prefer to stay with NTL, but not at current prices. |

I can guarantee it won't happen.
If you want to leave, just leave. If you don't then don't-it's whatever suits you best at the time really. |

After youve cancelled. Why not ring up again, reconnect to broadband and get 3 months at half price.

I love people who think that their cancelling is going to make a tremendous difference to a company such as Ntl.
Do you not realise that your cancellation would go completely unnoticed in amongst the thousands who join everyday?? |

Don't forget that if you downgrade to 600, it will eventually (when they rollout the upgrade) be 750 - for £25 - not a bad price. I would suggest that you do a comparison based on these speeds if you are thinking of changing supplier - simply because you are looking at the cost/savings over the course of the year, and the speeds should :naughty: be implemented by "late summer". If you then decide that BT/ADSL is the way to go - go for it, NTL will not fight for one user, as they have quite a high number of new subscribers coming online ATM.. One day, the number of new subscribers will be less that the number of leavers, at that point NTL will have to start looking at the problem, until then, they are unlikely to do so, as their income from BB will continue to grow. Just my 2c as always... (oh, and I cannot get BT BB where I am :( so I am pretty much stuck with NTL anyway - roll on 1.5M :angel: ) |

cancelled my ntl and been adsl for almosta month, all is fine but when I cancelled they offered me 1 meg for £30 for 6 months. I decided that my 1 meg 2 meg options on adsl was still better so I elected to leave. Now enjoying 1 meg for 25£ and can upgrade to 2 meg anytime if its required and for only £35.
Trouble with ntl is they see other cable companies as their competition not adsl. wierd but adsl is the competition and its an open competition too where as cable is closed. They bundle phone with digitv to further their monopoly and give a small period of discount to hook customers in on a long term contract. I have a 3 month contract with BT now and a 3 month adsl contract. I know if my new isp turns out to be crap I got all the optiuons in the country now, cept of course bulldogs 4meg for london. Im no longer tied up with NTL and feel very comfortable in my new found freedom. |

I personally have moved onto NTL from having ADSL for around 4 years and I would not look back!
Other the 4 years I had 4 different ADSL providers. |

All you will get offered will be Red Herrings...
IMO going with Sky is far superior to NTL's TV. Any discount or reduction that you get offered to keep you with NTL is likely to be taken off by someone somewhere at NTL & you then have to ring up & complain because the bill is too high again etc. |

After going to watch Sky at my girlfriends house again the past few weeks it has reminded me of every reason I jumped to move to NTL when we moved back into a cabled area.
The quality of picture and sound is so much better on NTL. There might not be as good interactive content but I never used the interactive on sky anyway. |

if you listen to your sound on a surround system like i do you'll notice that it's far from ok. i'm in wallasey and been waiting eight months or more for a fix. 'coming soon' eh.. nice one.

I've personally seen the effort that goes into getting faults fixed, getting accounts sorted, etc, all to resolve one issue for one customer, if it wasn't important then why would anyone bother? It's not always possible to price match every deal a competitor may offer. Sometimes what is on offer is not actually a comparable service, for example. |
