does NTL webspace support e-blah forums?

Hey everyone,

I would like to download and try out e-blah platinum forum, which is free.
It talks about perl and stuff like that.

it also talks about cgi-bins, i am not familiar with cgi scripts or perl, all i know is that servers have cgi-bins, and this is where all the cgi processing happens.

my knowledge is limited on this. I have a website on my NTL account, which is a duplicate to my site on Yahoo's geocities, but I don't think Yahoo would allow it!

nope sorry.... ntl webspace does not support any server side technologies.

Try i-web 99p per month special offer for cable forum members.

They come highly recommended from me too :tu:

Thanks MB,

I will chat to a few of my friends who are into this sort of stuff, before I make a choice of server.

99p a month for CGI, a respectable amount of space and bandwidth .... try and beat it, and then come back!

Probably a forum or 2 available there as well, if I recall

obviously how many can be installed at one time will depend on space available & how many MySql databases you have. They all uninstall just as easily as they install. I'm currently using PHPWebsite & Wordpress :)

The other thing about I-Web is their customer service, which is absolutely brilliant - I would heartily recommend them :tu:

http://www.i-websolutions.co.uk/cfhosting.php tells you most of what you need to know for 'what you get'.

I have the 'CF1' package. Don't worry about 'parked domains' etc, yet - the important things are space, bandwidth & how many databases you can access. I am playing with a website & a blog, so have used 2 databases & have 3 left - I have about 75% of my space available & am well within bandwidth limits.

I-Web will either register a .co.uk on your behalf, for a fee, or you can register your own & have it propagated via I-Web's DNS.

Thanks for all the info, but although I made up the basic site for my club, it is really up to my club instructor to make the descision on whether or not to go for a paid site, and get a domain name, hopefully he will say go for it, then i may give the one mentioned earlier, i-web.
After all it will be his money that pays for it all, not mine. :D
