Stop Debugging Me!

Hi
Have just started getting Runtime Errors in IE6. They are of a variety of types each with different numbers. eg "Runtime Error - Line 128" etc.
Lots of errors occur when i first launch IE, and when asked if i "wish to debug" i click no many times and eventually it stops. Each time i load a webpage from then on i get a few of these errors.
I have recently installed Microsoft Active sync for use with my PDA. This may have a bearing.... but i hope not.
I have reinstalled the latest Java RTE in case it was that.. but it wasnt:dozey:
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Stop Debugging Me!

Try - Tools - internet options - advanced - then tick disable script debugging.

Try going to Tools > Internet options > advanced..

Select (tick) - Disable browser debugging, under the Browser list.

Should sort it :)

Moved this to the internet forum.

Edit : Beaten to it   :D

Note that if you have a task called "mdm.exe" running in your task list, the debugging option will be automatically switched back ON whenever you reboot your PC. Or at least that's what always used to happened to me.

Disable it in Services.

At a guess i'd say theres errors in the web programmers code which IE is informing you about :)

No way - hes getting runtime errors in IE, not with debugging problems with web pages.

I would suggest that it is indeed your PDA software and would recommend that A) you uninstall it, B) Look on the web for an updated version, C) then reinstall it whether there is one or not.

Make sure also that IE is closed when you do this - maybe even boot into safe mode when installing your PDA software.

If in doubt - uninstall your PDA software for a day or two and see if the problem goes away.

I started getting these errors when I installed Office 2003...

As soon as I disabled the debugging they stopped.

Indeed. It takes too bloody long to start up! :fit:

And you can't tinker around with any of the options to customise them to work like IE but with the features of firefox (e.g. when you click a link whilst holding down shift it opens in a new window - I want it to open in a new tab! ).

Apart from that, less crashy than IE. Not crashed on me ... yet ;)

If it was more flexible then perhaps I would consider ditching IE .... but not yet I'm afraid.

*ahem*
Richard steps forward... :D

Firstly, the reason why IE starts up more quickly is because the majority of it is loaded when the OS boots, the load time is mostly the creation of the GUI.
Don't believe me?
Double click on My Computer then type an URL into the address bar.

SHIFT + click will download the link target in Moz (opens a new window in FF), to open a link in a new tab you use CTRL + click or the middle mouse button (scroll wheel).

If you want something even more stable and faster then you should use Mozilla 1.7RC2 - it's a lot faster because Firefox 0.8 is based off the 1.4 branch of Mozilla and won't be optimized for speed until version 1.0.

There are processor optimised versions as well i believe.

That's right, I think you have to compile them yourself though.
