Strange loss of Freeview :(

I receive Freeview via a Grundig IDTV (not sure of the model number).

I've got an indoor aerial, connected to the IDTV's digital tuner input via an aerial signal booster.

Although the signal isn't good enough to pick up some channels (ITV, C4, C5, and the Top-Up TV channels), I have always had a very good signal, & good picture quality, for the BBC channels plus Sky News.

But now....nothing.

Every channel is blank, & the TV says "bad signal".

The co-ax lead has been moved around a bit to try & tidy it, but I don't see how that would cause the problem. Also, the connector on it is fine, plus the aerial has not been moved.

The TV has no problem with the analogue terrestrial channels, received using the same aerial & co-ax lead (the digi tuner has a "loop out" on the back of the TV, which goes into the analogue tuner).

 :(

Re: Strange loss of Freeview :(

I've cleared all the channels, & got the TV to re-scan....

It's re-picked up Sky News, Sky Sports News, UK History, BBC4, & a few other (minor) channels.

But no sign of BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC News 24 etc...The main Beeb channels were always the ones with the strongest signal before...

looks like you are not alone Tez

it seems to be an area based problem with the transmitter?

There was work due last week or this week at Sandy Heath.

I've not had any disruption to any channels

If the work involves reducing the power of the transmitters and you live close to the site, then you are unlikely to see any difference. Outlying areas are more likely to be affected.
If however its antenna work then the radiation pattern from the site can be affected, it could be that the radiation pattern towards Cambridge has been alterered accidently.

I'm sure if people are complaining to Freeview/BBC then they will investigate.

A few of the cable headends also take DTT channels from Sandy Heath (including Cambridge) and as far as I know we have had no problems.

That would certainly explain it then - I'm pretty close :D

Well - OK - VERY close to the transmitter.
