Search Engines- Getting good results for your domain

I am quite close to pulling my hair out now :banghead: I am looking for a thread that i swear was on here about how to get a good ranking on a search engine for your site. I have searched with the keywords search, search engine, submit, submit engine, search ranking, ranking... and i have still had no luck!

Can someone please point me in the direction of the thread please because i am going :spin: now! I don't want to repeat the whole thread again, because i know how annoyed people get with that but i just want to find it
