fire wall madness!

im not sure if i have posted this in the right part! sorry if its wrong, but i had so much help over an email issue, that i had to ask about my latest problem!

for the last 3 days my firewall alarm (norton) has been going off every 3 mins for the same thing. 'sokets de trois v1 trojan' is anyone else suffering from this? is this an ntl thing or is it me again??!! can i stop it from trying to attack my pc or do i have to just let norton keep blocking it all the time? i have run adaware through to see if it picks something up, but it dosent. i dont even know if spyware has anything to do with trojans or if its just an internet thing!
be really gratefull for advice, thanks from jane :dunce:

You can really just ignore them - it simply means your firewall is doing the job you paid (!) it to do and blocking attempts to connect to your pc - can you not turn notifications off somewhere in Norton ?

Next time it comes up, check the attacker's IP Address to see where it is from. If it is definitely an external attack, tick the option "Don't create a Security Alert for this threat again", then Norton will still block the attacker but will not keep bothering you.

You can also use Norton to trace their IP Address to their ISP. You could then email the abuse@ ISP's address, detailing times of the attacks, but I've found this is generally useless.

If you find Norton is picking up something legitimate, then you might need to alter the Trojan rule so it isn't triggered, but be careful not to open your machine up to attackers. As long as it isn't causing any problems, it may be worth just turning the security alert off (as above) and ignoring it.
