Nightclub Fined For Diluted Drinks

Tiger Tiger in Portsmouth has been fined a paltry £50000 for diluted spirit measures. :td:

Story Here

Tiger Tiger, which charges at least £2.50 for spirits, blamed staff naivety for the lack of care
errrr yeah right.

They should have had their drinks licence taken away.

*wonders how many other clubs would fail the tests.....

Reading the news item, it appears to be poor (pour? :D) practice, rather than deliberate, so the fine seems reasonable to me. Still... losing 1/4 of the alcohol. It's enough to make you cry into your beer.

I think the quotes are rather kind m8... alcohol should only evaporate at about 2% per annum??... rather a long time to have a bottle open on the bar. ;)

There was no suggestion that it was deliberate so £50,000 seems reasonable, possibly even harsh. :erm:

Well there is a way to get them upset. Put a half pint glass upside down in a full pint and all the water come's to the top. Landlords get very upset when they see people doing this ;)

EH?

What you mean drop a empty 1/2 pint glass into a full pint of beer.

How does this make the water seperate & come to the top?
Surely it would just force the beer to spill over the top..

I think in terms of how much these club chains turn over every week, £50,000 is unlikely to be a major deterrant when you consider how much they're likely to have saved by committing the offence for goodness knows how long.
