digital v analogue
Hi,
I currently have base analogue TV from NTL and am thinking about the base Digital package. Can someone confirm  - 1. Digital service is in widescreen (where sent by the broadcaster) 2. Does Digital also support Dolby Digital 5.1? 3. Can you record from Digital NTL on to VCR? Cheers, Steve.:) |
Re: digital v analogue
OK, quick fire answers:
1. Yes 2. No, Pro Logic is the best you'll get 3. Yes |
Re: digital v analogue
Yes.
No. Yes. EDIT : Beaten to it! |
Re: digital v analogue
For 3, I beleive that (some? all?) Front Row PPV movies have Macrovision added.

Re: digital v analogue
Hi Aragorn, I'll start by saying :welcome:
In answer to your questions: 1. Yes 2. No 3. Yes, but you have to watch the channel you are recording, unless you can recieve a terrestrial signal, and so can just watch this instead. Hope this helps, Browneggsandham :) EDIT: where did you guys all come from suddenly?? :pp |

Mind you, I don't bother with PPV events anyway ;) |
Re: digital v analogue
Sure thery have Macrovision?
I can record all PPV stuff, probably due to my ancient but reliable Sony VCR. |
Re: digital v analogue
Should note that the base pack on NTL anal is much better then the digital one

It's £6 cheaper as well . If I had a 16:9 TV I'd stick with analogue and get a Freeview box (most of the non-FTA channels are not in 16:9 anyway) |
Re: digital v analogue
Thanks for all the quick replies.

BTW, can you request a specific STB model or is it whatever NTL are handing out at the time? If you can, what's the best for quality/reliability? Cheers, Steve. |

Re: digital v analogue
I've got a PACE1000 - apparently it's quite an old one, but very reliable, I've heard the 4000 is quite tempermental and freezes.
