Films to see in 2021

Welcome to the film list of 2021. I am making this year's list hesitantly as things are very much up in the air at the moment. I always make a disclaimer and say dates are subject to change and I'll do my best to keep the list up to date and that is even more relevant this year. Pretty much every major release of 2020 was delayed until 2021 or made available on a streaming service and I am expecting that to be the case this year despite some films already having been put back for a third time into the spring. The current tier restrictions in the UK and the state of the pandemic in the US has put the cinema industry and the boxoffice in a precarious state and I wouldn't be surprised if many movies are further delayed into summer or the end of the year when a vaccine rollout is well underway and there is a relaxation in restrictions and increased consumer confidence.

As always this is a collaborative effort so if I have missed something off the list or if you would like to see a film added just make a post in this thread and I'll add it to the list. Trailers will be added as soon as they become available so keep checking back for updates.

I think this year's list is very strong and definitely better than what should have been released last year. Take a good look because there are plenty of films coming out which sound good and I hadn't heard of.

Dates in bold are films which were originally planned for this year and have been delayed until next year. This post is by no means a comprehensive list of the 2022 release slate and the films are listed purely as an advisory measure so you know what has happened to them if you were expecting them this year. A new thread will be created towards the end of the year for the 2022 schedule.

I read for Spiderman 3 that Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire will be reprising their roles in a multi-verse. Now seeing the Trailer for Loki and the introduction of the TVA and can see this happening.

The upcoming Flash film (not on your list) also has multi-verse with Michael Keaton reprising his Batman

A few others as well ;

Sony also announced a delay for Camila Cabello's Cinderella, originally planned for February 5. It will now come out on July 16.

Uncharted's release date has also been moved back into next year – so you'll have to wait until February 11, 2022 to see Tom Holland as Nathan Drake.

Meanwhile, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Jared Leto's Morbius also move back again, to November 2021 and January 2022 respectively.

Stephen 17-02-2021 05:53

Re: Films to see in 2021

It's hardly regurgitated.

This new film is 4 hours long and uses most of Snyders footage.

The other JL was heavily reshot and the plot changed by Joss Whedon, due to Snyder stepping down near the end of filming because of family tragedy.

This is finally his vision come tp life. About 80% of this is unseen.

I love the original movies. Yes they are cheesy but are entertaining. Saw them both in the cinema back then. Love the soundtrack too.

This one looks very good amd more like the recent games in terms of fight scenes and gore/violence.

Quite a few films have shifted a week or two since I last updated date but I am expecting some big changes now that we have an end in sight. Black Widow is going to have to be pushed a couple of weeks for example.

Cineworld has announced it will reopen US cinemas next month, followed by the UK in May, after signing a deal with Warner Bros to show films in theatres before they are streamed.

The company will open a handful of its Regal cinemas in the US in early April.

Godzilla vs. Kong will be the first film to make its debut in the theatres.

Cineworld said the deal with Warner Bros means films will have a period of exclusivity in cinemas before being made more widely available.

Re: Films to see in 2021

Just updated the list, pretty much everything has been pushed 2-4 weeks. The closest one to be aware of is Godzilla vs Kong; pushed 2 weeks to the beginning of June presumably to give cinemas a bit of breathing room and a chance to get up and running again.

I am hoping that for the first 2 weeks they bring some big hitters as well as classics back. I would love to see Infinity War and Endgame on the big screen again as a precursor to Black Widow.

I've been looking forward now for months to see Ghostbusters Afterlife and its gonna be released in November 21st.

If its as good as it seems I'm gonna thoroughly enjoy it.
Georgie.
