A 90-year-old California man frustrated with his slow AT&T internet service took out two newspaper ads totaling $10,000 to tell the company's CEO that he needs to do a better job of providing his north Hollywood neighborhood with faster speed. [more]

I give him credit for trying so hard to get the word out..... Couldnt he have called them??

It IS insane though how slow things are here in the states AND HOW HIGH PRICED THEY ARE!!

What do you think they would have done if he had?

Perhaps I should try this with BT. Though I can't imagine they'd take much notice.

BTRetail is an ISP just like any other and has no influence on the Openreach rollout of FTTP.

The US is a totally different story compared to the UK.

A friend of mine can see where ATT&T FTTP ends but he can't get any service from ATT&T, he has to suffer Cox Communications as he is in their catchment area. When/if Cox decide to extend FTTP to his area it will be double the price of ATT&T for an asychronous connection.

There is no competition in vast areas of the US.

Oh, I can't keep up. They are still BT to me. At least I didn't call them GPO Telephones ;)

So not that different to here. There's competition on price but not service.
