Cable modem frequently disconnected

Hi

I am using a 10mb broadband service only in Luton.
The modem is NTL 250 and works fine for the last few months.
But this week about 3 or 4days ago , it could be disconnected suddenly at nearly any moment. (even when i am writing this post it disconnected several times)

Usually there are two symptoms.
1. The light which shows " sync" keeps green but the "ready" light keeps glint between green and dark. The log showed"No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out" and "MAP w/initial maintenance region receive"

2. The "ready" light keeps dark and the "sync" keeps glint. The log showed "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/Q"

I 've tried moving the modem to my roommates'room and it seems work ok.
So is it the problem of the cable in my room?
If yes, how can i get help to change the cables?

call tech support and ask for a tech visit. It should resolve your problem. :-)

HI there.

Try explaining all this to customer services. Be very nice and steer them in the direction of a new modem with new wires. I've read lots of posts about certain modems burning out. I myself have just swapped from a 250 to a 256 with great results

see if the engineer will lock your CM to a channel -- but it's probably the power.
