New Laptop

Hi, I'm hoping any of you guys out there can help me, I'm thinking of buying the laptop on the link below, I'd like if possible, any comments as to the price etc and your views if you think it's a good deal or otherwise.

Many thanks....

Everyone I know who has bought an Alienware PC or laptop in the past has alwasys spoken well of them. They are always priced at the higher end.

Horses for courses. if it fits your needs then the price is right.

Re: New Laptop

I'd say different, they are overpriced, you're paying for the branding. And from a few people that I do know that has had and used them they weren't that happy about them.

Overpriced
Overheating issues - An M17xR2 I used had severe issues and the laptop only lasted under 2 years. The small fans can't cool them down enough and they sound louder than a cheap hairdryer when pushed.
Serious health risks (from the overheating/electrical fire)
Crap customer support and lack of drivers.

Get a desktop for that money if portability / space isn't a problem.

Ok, thanks for the input, I just wondered if you thought that the price/spec was good?

It's a quite well speccd laptop but still expensive for what you get. i got my last one from https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/
They're very customisable, you could build the exact spec of your alienware pc and see how much it costs at PCS, I reckon you'd save several hundred pounds.

Forgot to add that they have a forum attached to the website where you could get unbiased advice if you post your spec when you have created it

Wow, three 4K screens, bet that would get a little bit on the warm side if you had it on your lap

I've had friends buy laptops from Novatech (https://www.novatech.co.uk/laptop) before and no complaints from them were really happy with my recommendations.

Never bought laptops myself as I either got them for free at work or hand me downs, my components I have bought mostly from Novatech and their CS is brilliant

also at work we use dell laptops and a few of their service engineers have mentioned that they have been visiting a lot of customers recently with alienware laptops for all kind of weird and wonderful hardware faults.

+1 for Novatech on reputation (although never used them) I did consider them for my previous laptop but pcspecialist were far more customisable so i went with them in the end and wasn't dissapointed.

Re: New Laptop

Anyone on here have a 15" gaming laptop that they could recommend? I've looked at lots of reviews of Razer Blade, Alienware, Aero, Asus, MSI, etc etc, there's so many, I have a budget of around £1500, so if anyone has bought one I'd appreciate their thoughts on how good or otherwise their purchase was.

Thx.
