It’s not a huge problem. It took me just a few minutes to sort that out.

However one of the many upsides is the use the 360 makes of on demand for recording purposes. This reduces the pressure on the hard drive, enabling far more recordings to be made than on the TiVo/V6s.

The ability to use profiles for your bookmarks (watchlists) is also extremely useful if there is more than one person living in the house with you.

It was a culture shock when I first moved to the 360 software but I am hooked now and prefer it to the V6.

Still can't get on with the 360 here. Recreating Series Links is something you should not have to do.

Wishlists and the Series Link+ are thr big loss.

Profiles you have to keep reselecting are a pain.

On the 360 - how do I recreate series links for series currently not in the guide?

You don’t have to recreate series links, do you? I think that is only necessary if you delete the series link when you’ve finished the series you are watching.

My wife loves ‘Fear the Walking Dead’, but the last two series were only available on Amazon for a fee. However, out of the blue the other day the series popped up on our watchlist and now the last two series are there, free of extra charge. I’m sure the V6 didn’t do that.

Likewise, with the series recorded from live TV, any new series pop up automatically. Just make sure you don’t cancel the series link when you’ve seen the last one.

We find the profiles very useful indeed. You can set it up to always come on with the profile you select if you want to, or you don’t have to use them at all.

By ‘wish list’ I think you mean the facility on the TiVo/V6 to just select a programme, cast member, director or whatever, and to be alerted to programmes fitting that criteria when they are available. I have rarely used that facility and therefore don’t miss it. The only searching I do is from the search function on the 360, which brings up any programmes that are already available, and I then add them to the watchlist.

Frankly, the only thing I miss is the fact that you cannot ‘undelete’ recordings recently deleted.

Sounds good but I do not want to pay£30 or whatever for a remote control!

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

On the 360 - any series link you had on BBC1HD you will have to recreate - and that can only be done if it is in the guide. The on-screen message says you have to re-create them!

That means it will actually take months to reset programmes not currently airing - like Doctor Who.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

That is exactly what the TiVo Series Link+ does. Uses both live channels and OnDemand/CatchUp.

In fact you can even say not to record them and just list them in MyShows and play from CatchUp. It also follows all channels so if a series moves channel at any point than the series still records.

When Sky lost of the WWE Wrestling to BT Sports - series link+ followed them and the users didn't need to do anything except ensure they had a subscription.

A wishlist would let you create recording schedules for programmes that haven't even appeared in the guide yet. And they would appear once available with no further action.

With one single wishlist you can record all programmes from all channels - theat feature a certain actor or even a sports team. Set it up once and forget about it. No need to create new series links for new shows they appear in.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

Media Boy HQ has seen confirm channel numbers for England and N. Ireland from next week.

On Virgin Media, BBC Three will launch onto channel 107, pushing BBC Four down to 108. BBC One in HD is currently available on channel 108 but this will now become the standard on slot 101 with the launch of the BBC One regions in HD.

I have still to see news on where BBC Scotland HD will go in Scotland. And I have still to see news on where S4C HD will go in Wales.

https://www.mediamole.co.uk/entertai...ed_476199.html

Plan A) This is a one I am now working with: (Due to BBC THREE HD being confirmed as on Channel 107).

List first posted on January 16th.

107. BBC THREE HD (Was BBC FOUR HD) all areas
108. BBC FOUR HD (In all areas) -
113. BBC Scotland HD (Scotland only)
113. Channel 4 (Wales only)
120. ITV Wales SD (Wales only)
162. ITVBe +1 (Wales only)

Plan B) Reports says S4C need to be in Top 8 on the EPG in Wales - if true a following may happen. From last weekend.

108. BBC FOUR HD - Not in Wales
108. Channel 4 - Wales only
113. BBC Scotland HD - Scotland only
120. BBC FOUR HD - Wales only
120. BBC ALBA - Scotland only
120. ITVBe +1 - Not in Scotland or Wales
162. ITVBe +1 - Only in Scotland and Wales

VM is 107 in all regions for BBC3.

I can't find an official source to confirm them.

So all TV360 viewers can now start to reset their series links.

Here is Scotland a SID for BBC FOUR HD is now 2316.

Ofcom says that Comcast wants CNBC (UK) Limited to run NBC News Now here in a UK and not Sky UK Limited.

NBC News Now: http://static.ofcom.org.uk/static/ra...nbcnewsnow.htm

So unless Virgin Media and CNBC are in talks right now it look like NBC News Now will not be on Virgin Media from launch.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

For England and Wales the VM link, seems to suggest that only BBC1 SD series links are affected.
If people are concerned about their series links, they can always set them to "all channels", and readjust them after the changes.

ozsat 25-01-2022 05:56

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

That is not available on the 360 -only 360 customers have to reset their links.

And only Engliand is changing - Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have had their own HD for some time.

No, you just have to reset them on ch 108; then the series links will work again, including when the numbers change.

108 will probably have an info slate for a few days, so the new config's of BBC FOUR could stay on 107 for a few days. After that, BBC FOUR now has a separated config for each nation, so could, potentially stay on 107 in, say, Scotland & Wales but move to 108 in England and N. Ireland.

Who knows what will happen to the SD and +1 channels in the top 24 over the next few months? Perhaps Virgin already has a slot, or range of slots, earmarked for removal / change.

Do you know why Virgin has got 4 SID for both BBC Three and BBC Four?

When they only need an new copy for BBC Four and two for BBC Three.

I mean they only got two SID'S for ITVBe +1, BBC Scotland HD and S4C HD?

I was just reporting what both RXTV and Media Mole was reporting yesterday so I am sorry for any in convenience this may cause.

BBC Three HD can be in top 24 if Virgin really wants to do it:

162. ITVBe +1 (Scotland and Wales only)

Extra configs for flexibility I guess. My first thought was do they really need that many? But 4 configs allows them to move the channels around in each nation to accommodate BBC Scotland and BBC Alba in Scotland, S4C in Wales. With TG4 wanting a higher slot in N Ireland, maybe Virgin are also taking this into account?

RXTV and Media Mole were also responsible for some of the speculation about an early launch of BBC ONE HD regions on all platforms a while ago. That was also incorrect.

No need to apologise. :D

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

I have no issues with SD or HD - I was comparing 360 and TiVo.

I don't see the point of SD if there is HD - my point is you can only reset links on the 360 for an active programme.

So it is a task which will take months - and needs no action on the TiVo software.

A bit of a surprise this morning for viewers with Tivo based boxes trying to tune in to BBC One HD on channel 108. As expected it moved to channel 101 overnight. Viewers with Tivo based boxes haven't had an official notification of the change and will notice the channel is no longer there and there isn't an information slate to explain what has happened. Virgin Media has posted a date on Virgin Media Forum.

If Virgin has not done this I feel a next set of changes may have happen as soon as tomorrow.

I have just been amending my series links from BBC1 Yorkshire HD to BBC1 AD as I want everything (apart from the local news) to record in SD.

This resulted in some double entries with one greyed out due to clashes.

- The old BBC1 Yorkshire SD channel was showing as being on Channel 180, which I selected and then deleted.

Further on in Planned Recordings:

- There was a double entry for the same programme on BBC4. One was on Channel 107 and the other for channel 180 again, which I again selected and then deleted..

On the EPG, 180 is neither BBC Four or BBC1 Yorkshire SD, but is Sky Replay??

All of the old BBC One SD channels were parked on EPG slot 1806 and hidden from the EPG. Legacy boxes can't display 4 digit channel numbers, so you only see the first 3 digits. Happy to help. :)

There should be a message in 'Discovery' bar at the top - 'BBC One - HD moves up in England'

Minor sound issues again on BBC1 HD again.

Last week (I think) when they messed about with it on 108 I lost sound for a day or so, then my amp recognised it as surround sound but it was coming out in stereo. Eventually fixed a day later

Now it has moved to 101, sound is once again being recognised as surround sound but is in stereo.

Other surround sound channels work fine so not an issue with equipment.

First world problems...

Odd that, I've checked the home page several times and that hadn't appeared. After you posted this I left the page up for a while and it appeared after a few minutes. A bit of a "hit and miss" experience if that's how customers are being informed.

As AD is now a part on the main 101 channel - I suspect that will soon be removed too. I don't think there will be any SD BBC1 channels soons.

Here BBC1 Oxford HD is showing as DD2.0 on the amp - but switched to DD5.1 for Father Brown - all as expected.

Unless they keep the national variations 861-864 in SD, in which case they might be a better choice for Richard. I would agree that the AD channels are basically obsolete as regional channels have started to carry the AD service.

I don't know, my thoughts are that if they were going to be in HD they would have converted with the rest. The adjacent regions on channel 858 were converted to HD last night. There possibly isn't a very high demand for these channels so using HD would be wasteful.

Also the nation versions were used to absorb SD series links when the nations went HD only.

Watched lunchtime edition of South Today on 858 (now HD) today. I'm certain the studio bits were still in SD (maybe upscaled) but the outside news reports were obviously HD. Perhaps they are going to have a big HD switch on at 1830 for the main bulletin, if not it seems a bit of a weird concoction!

I hope BBC do keep the national variations on Virgin as I do watch BBC Wales and BBC Northern Ireland about two hours per week.

Digital Spy Forum is reporting "at present there are only four BBC English regions, able to produce in HD

London, South West, North West, and Cambridge.

Southampton is in progress now. Newcastle next up."

BBC1 London SD will continue on 861/851 for the time being. As far as the rest of the SD regions are concerned, the BBC will want to pull the plug on these ASAP. I can’t see them leasing transponders for SD & HD on Astra for very long as this would prove hugely expensive. At present SD & HD are also uplinked from 2 different sites. The Beeb wants everything uplinked from Chilworth as again this will save money. That will then only leave the Freeview distribution in SD until MPEG4 transmission becomes standard.

They'll still want to use a little as possible in case they want to reassign space for broadband provision I'd imagine.

I would say they are just supplementary services like +1 channels and don't merit carriage in HD. I wouldn't say that there are capacity issues. TS11 is empty other than the unknown channel aka BBC Red Button 5 which Media Boy has found on digitalbitrate. From the data on that site, the service doesn't seem to have been added yet, it links to a slate. It's unlikely to be BBC Red Button 5, it is just using its old SID number. I guess the BBC Red Button 5 placeholder and perhaps the BBC Red Button 2 to BBC Red Button 6 range will shortly be moved to placeholder SID numbers outside the normal range before the mystery service is revealed.

Well, there's that but they have given up (I think) 20 transport streams over the last few years. ;)

I understand they are testing other methods of delivery that could save quite a lot of "spectrum".

I have not seen anything on the BBC launching any additional streams. There was only a single additional HD stream for the summer Olympics.

Eurosport has the primary rights & will be launching Eurosport 3 to 5 on Virgin (ch 537 to 539), Sky & BT at the end of next week.

The heads up for new channels is usually when the service labels are added to the SDT. In this case, they will already be there as placeholders from the last time the popup channels were used. Keep watching digitalbitrate.

You’ll find BBC Four on channel 108 from 1st February 2022. So if you have any series link recordings for BBC Four shows, you’ll need to re-set those up now, as well as adding BBC Four back into your list of favourite channels.

Need a hand? Find out how to manage your recordings here and set your favourite channel here.

Just to recap, your new BBC channel line-up will look like this:

107 BBC Three
108 BBC Four

Per email to my mum who has the old TiVo box.

It wasn't actually BBC Red Button 5, they just happened to use a SID number that is currently used for the BBC Red Button 5 placeholder. So Virgin are using the same transport stream as previously used for Eurosport UHD and the BBC RB pop-ups. TS11 seems to be the go to location for pop-up channels and seems to be kept free of full time channels. The transport streams previously used for Eurosport HD pop-ups (512 & 515) have been filled with normal channels since they were last used by Eurosport, so I didn't expect them to show up on there.

If you want to watch out for Zee TV HD it should appear as a new service, initially without a service name, on one of the HD transport streams.

By the way, I've been told that the BBC RB placeholders have been moved to SIDs 1152 to 1157, so are out of the normal range for future additions. Eurosport 3-6 HD have been moved to transport stream 11 but 6 HD has been given SID 1158 as it isn't required for the Winter Olympics. Eurosport UHD shows as EPG channel 523, which is the same as last time.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

Was looking through the 1080p BBC iPlayer support list again just now and I've noticed Virgin has been added since I last looked at the beginning of January.

Surprisingly I don't recognise the model numbers EOS-1008C and EOS-1008R, it doesn't say the customer brand names, but it says 2018 for both, so I'm guessing it's different hard disk sizes for the V6 model. There's no mention of anything newer or older so there's been no update for the Original VM Tivo or TV360 box versions of iPlayer (unless they've not yet been added to the webpage). The Original VM Tivo may not get updated though, it struggles as it is I understand, and there's probably not enough users left to justify expense and time.

I think I've noticed a difference on my V6 recently, so I'm not surprised by these being added to the listing.

Thanks spiderplant.

So the 2018 model year on the BBC webpage means replacement hardware was in the VM plans for a lot longer than many of us may have expected? Given the similarity to the V6 hardware, and that the latter can be upgraded to TV360 software, I think a fair few of us thought the new Humax internal hardware was a late change in plans.

I keep forgetting about the optional extra mini boxes for TV360 :D.

Just suggesting the changes to individual identities may already have been made for everyone, the number change can happen separate of it. EPG number changes don't normally require re-Favouriting in my experience.

The Winter Olypmics actually starts on Wednesday so Tuesday makes sense.

No UHD programming until Friday though.

There were a few of events that started a couple days before the Opening Ceremony for the last Olympics, Friday could be the day of the Winter OC?

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

It is the OC on Friday. GB are in Curling from Wednesday which is on ES1. Luge this week is not being shown anywhere it would seem.
I'd expect VM to add there 4 offerings by Wednsday.

Rumour:

I am hearing that Channel 4 HD may move to Channel 104 (108 in Wales) by August.

Will that mean:

106. E4 HD (Replacing E4 SD - not on TV360 Boxes)
141. Channel 4 SD (Replacing Channel 4 HD - not on TV360 Boxes)
142. Channel 4 +1
143. 4Seven HD (Replacing 4Seven SD - not on TV360 Boxes)
144. E4 +1 (Moving from Channel 146)
145. More4 HD (Moving from Channel 147 - Replacing More4 SD - not on TV360 Boxes)
146. More4 +1 (Moving from Channel 196)
147. 4Music (Moving from Channel 337)

Or they could just remove the SD version, as they did in London.

Back to the drawing board? ;)

Did they. I forgot to look at a EPG listing on my blog before posting.

My own ideal Virgin Media's EPG lineup.

The bright green horizontal BBC Three HD logo looks good on the V6 box EPG. Looks tiny on the TV Control app though - they should have used the vertical one that Sky has used on their apps.

I'm amazed those two Box channels are on the list. Thought they'd be on lowest package already.

Do anyone know what package is 4Music is on?

4Music did launch on Freesat today and want FTA on Sky.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

The Box is the Mix pack or whatever the current equivalent is, Box Hits is "Fun" and 4Music is "Player". Do your own conversions to current names. ;)
