Correct me if I'm wrong.

Your Facebook account was hacked.

Your Virgin email account was hacked.

All sorted but still seeing attempts by whom to get back on sites?

I'd change the e-mail address and password associated with the account (assuming you have access). Otherwise you'll need to contact Facebook to sort it out.
You can check if your email addy has been compromised here:

Nearly everyone will be on that list, I did have another site that tells you what sites got compromised so you knew which passwords to change, probably in a thread I created a while back.

I ended up changing all my site passwords to gibberish using the Lastpass password manager.

Found it have a read here.

Re: Facebook hack

Right I will try to explain.
Posts I did not make appeared on face book , My emails on Virgin were being deleted but not by me.
Then I managed to "catch" an E mail saying I can change my password on facebook.

So I changed every password I have - Boy did that take some work! Now at around 11.45am every day face book posts a code to change my password on it. Clearly whom ever it is can`t get on to the E mail.Keep telling Facebook it was not me via the email just press a button but that`s a waste of time. The account being attacked is on notice to shut down - thirty days !!! So I wondered how long this is likely to go on.

Yes now seem to be clean however someone is still trying and so far failing to get code to change password on face book Which I hope be deleted in the new few weeks. Code to change was posted on Virgin Email Which was then wiped.Opened Emails would just go . Hence why I say it was also hacked . Not sure which happened first!

Re: Facebook hack

At this stage you should increase security on FB using 2fa and make sure your email is secured properly.

Also use Lastpass for all passwords with 2fa

Thanks. took it further closed account and set up new one. That got rid of a lot of rubbish that I could not shake off for years. No trust in anything remembering passwords. So now all set up really random and in my head only. That worked the little grey cells !! but have managed it . I keep looking for patterns in what I use but can see none. So now have 16 different ones.

Are you sure it was a hack and not a spoof? Often spoofers set up a similar account to yours, they have not actually hacked your account
