The Blues Brothers

Bloody classic. 10/10.

Best soundtrack ever, & one of the best car-chases ever.

The ultimate musical-comedy.

My fav film of all time film. Its a shame that BB2000 was a right load of toffee, that could have been a much, much better film than it was, not surpassing but coming close to the first.

Just watched Serenity (Firefly movie) Excellent, well worth watching. 8/10

It's in Mandarin with very little english spoken.

Not the sort of movie you'd want a dub on anyway.

Still well worth the watch.

P.S If you intend on watching it, make sure you dont get the US Version as it's heavily cut.

An another one.

Shadowless Sword (Korean) (German Blu-Ray)

7/10

Got a high rating just for the fight scenes, storyline felt abit silly at times but i guess that was the intention, the "johnny depp" pirate windup scene had me in hysterics.

P.S Dont buy german blu-rays, the quality is serious lacking on all german releases, no english subtitles either, so it was a good thing i know korean.

Kautokeino-opprøret (blu-ray)

if i was giving it a score just for scenery purposes it would be an instant 10/10

6/10 For the movie itself, quite interesting and made me think but parts of the story felt a little rushed and out of place at times.

Yeah, I saw that a few weeks ago - was surprised at how good an action hero Liam Neeson made in it.

The Incredible Hulk (BD)

8/10

I think Iron Man tops it for "Best Marvel Movie of 2008", but it was still very good & much better than I expected.

Also a few nice nods...

The purple trousers Betty buys Bruce

Letter to "David B."

Lou Ferrigno as the voice of the Hulk!

Anyway much better than the 2003(?) version of the hulk.

2 films from me.

Mirrors
Keither Sutherland stars in this supernatural\horror flick that that culminates in an ending that could see a sequel.
There were some moments where my wife jumped and a plot\story that flowed really well. Sutherland is still that single emotion actor in varying degrees of loudness (that he uses so well in 24) plays an ex cop who gets a job as a security guard at an old shop where the mirrors hold a deadly entity.
Worth watching :tu: 8/10

The Midnight Meat Train
Vinnie Jones plays a butcher in this film, pretty fast paced, good flow and excellent special effects (if a little far fetched at times)
Dont expect a lot of dialogue from Vinnie (2 words in the whole film) but his acting skills are coming along nicely.
I didnt recognise Brooke Sheilds who played the lead female until the end titles rolled.
Lots of blood and gore, based on a short story from Clive Barker.

Worth watching :tu: 7/10

James Bond: Quantum of Solace.

Crap storyline, me neither my friends understood it. Good action scenes but use too much "shaky" effect. Quite short. Wouldn't bother watching again, Batman is still film of the year for me.

Casino Royale was brilliant = 9/10
Quantum of Solace = 5/10.

Quantum of Solace 4/10

Story was terrible, shaky cam did get really annoying and also it appeared to be really badly edited! There was so many moments where the scenes skipped to somewhere else without finishing what was taking place previously.

Action scenes were good though.

Also the theme song is poor which matches the film perfectly!

The last straw for me was the invisible car in Die Another Day.

It's not a typical Bond movie, so don't go to watch it, expecting that. The style of this film does appear to be similar to the Bourne series, which I did like and do prefer.

not seen it yet - waiting for Blu Ray so I can watch both back to back and I'm hoping by the time it reaches DVD there will be a directors cut which fixes it.

from what I've seen so far I'm disappointed - spoilers released to the press re the death/demise of characters and what the final showdown would be etc - all smacks of desperation to hype up the film.

I am the opposite. I could watch them to waste a few hours, but they were never anywhere near a "must see" film for me. Now this Bond was a "must see" after seeing the last one. I really enjoyed the new one as well.

It would be interesting to see what people's reactions would be to the two new films, if Casino Royale was the very first Bond film made and it didn't have all the expectations that it had. What I mean is that Bond has a set checklist of what to expect and fans may feel let down because certain things were not done, whereas if the list were not there because, they may have loved the film. The film in itself, taken on it's own may be good, but because it didn't follow the franchise rules... Who knows? That is just my opinion.

If the Telegraph knew about it last year it's not much of a secret is it? ;) As for my previous comment, the  was in response to your comment about clearance, not the "based on an actual concept" part; I already knew stuff like that was being worked on.

Exactly. There are certain things that make a Bond film, & CR seemed to be missing a few too many of them.

Another issue I have with it is that the version of Bond played by whatshisface seems more like a slightly more refined/polished "Vinnie Jones" than a "James Bond". Bond's supposed to be classy, & to me whatshisface just didn't really manage it.

what destroyed Diet Another Day was the awful CGI and very averageness of the film in terms of production quality.

it was so obvious whenever there was a 'stunt' that it was done on green screen etc.

My point is that it in my opinion it should be taken as a separate film. To me, it's a good film in it's own right. Forget the past. Casino Royale took the character back to the start, when he first got his license. Rebirth, so to speak.

My point is if you get too preoccupied with rules, you might miss a good film. ;)

Kes (1969) directed by Ken Loach

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064541/

I last saw this years ago on TV when I was a child. I remember it was striking that I recently bought the DVD to look again. It's about a scrawny lad growing up in Barnsley where everyone is trying to put him down. He finds solace in training a young kestrel that he has stolen from a nest. There's some great scenes of him training the bird to a lure. David Bradley who plays the boy, Billy, gives a tremendous performance that outshines everyone else - including Colin Welland who plays the sympathetic teacher and Brian Glover, the sadistic games master. (Several scenes of boys in showers - weren't they all skinny then!). The dialogue is very 'Bratford' so you'll need a keen ear to hear it all and the style is very TV orientated (not suprising since Ken Loach cut his teeth on Z-Cars). It's very dated but, IMHO, still a classic piece that is well worth watching.

The last film I watched was 'Wall-E'

- hmm, tears of happiness during a cartoon - only nearly

- a brilliant example of how animation can make a 'character' - and I don't mean only Wall-E - the parasol that kept inverting should be careful of being type cast, though ;)

8/10

Body of Lies. 6/10. Crowe and the king of the world hamming up some political intrigue for the elder brother Scott. Enjoyable yet instantly forgettable.

Sweeny Todd. Undecided. Bought the dvd and enjoyed the special features more than the feature. Too much singing of songs that are funny but not very good. Great visuals, however.

Just watched The Transporter. Don't know why I hadn't bothered to watch it before now, not sure what had put me off, but glad I watched it in the end. Quite enjoyable: funky soundtrack, plenty of great action, & of course a CAB [cute asian babe :naughty:].

How spooky is this?

This week's Book at Bedtime on Radio 4 is "A Kestrel for a Knave", the book on which Kes is based.

Confused? Look up a few posts

You should also watch The Transporter 2 and then Transporter 3 when it reaches the cinema soon.

Transporter 2 is on this Saturday, on Channel 4, so I'll probably watch it Sunday or Monday.

I hated transporter 2...

Just watched

Invisible Target

6/10

Poor english dub, great fight scenes but felt too much like it was kind of rushed.

Transporter 2 was a very poor sequel. I think Crank is a much better film. I'd give that at least 8 out of 10.

You never know, transporter could go the same route as die hard...

1 being great!

2 being crap!

3 being great!

Just watched romancing the stone

5/10

Tacky, bored me, i remember it being slightly better...anyone remember it?

Yeah. I loved it as a kid... but haven't seen it in years.

Quantum of Solace

8/10

I don't think it's as good as Casino Royale (although it is faster paced & doesn't have CR's slow bits), but I still very much enjoyed it.

Daniel Craig *is* Bond.

I'm sure I read a while back about a special edition DVD of Oldboy which came with a little replica claw hammer, lol!

Googling turns up nothing though. Maybe it never came out.

Have just looked up R-Point - sounds interesting :tu:

I remember it, Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. I saw it not so long back for the first time in ages, but I still like it :) lol

I actually thought Timothy Dalton was a very good Bond (and pretty much underated as Bond), but I do like Daniel Craig. I prefer the way the bond films are going now, there's more seriousness to it, the fight scenes a bit more gritty.

The only question I have is, who would win in a fight. Bond or Bourne?

re: Rate the last movie you saw

They would both be equally trained so it would be a good match. From what ive seen from the movies Bourne has more technical expertise and uses a lot more locks breaks and grappling than Bond. It would be a very interesting fight. ;)

Jet Li would do both of em lol

Max Payne

Good movie, seemed a bit random in places. It could certainly of been better and had more action.
