Press the release button on the back of the support arm and slide the screen to the required height?

I tried that but I cannot move it, I think I will have to dismantle it and return it to the dealer which is a pain.

The stand is not like the stand that Taf showed, not hole for the pin.

The picture with the pin is from the B2780HSU as in your thread title, although it's something that is meant to be removed during installation.
The model in your picture is completely different, ie GB2730QSU. That one has a variant where the stand is fixed, G2730QSU. If your monitor has a large hole in the stand for running cables through(like in your picture), then it's the variable height one. Links included to Ilyama product website, complete with online manuals.

B3 doesn't have an adjustable stand.

Yes but if you need to go lower you're screwed.

So now we are at the stage where someone has bought one thing thinking it was another. Ah well...

The one that I purchased is what I wanted and the spec says it is a height adjustable, it is the stand that is faulty as the height adjustment is faulty.

The X2783HSU-B3 may not be adjustable, but the XB2783HSU-B3(note the XB rather than X) is.
Needs to be clarification on the actual model number and whether there's a large hole in the stand to run cables through.
Comparing X2783HSU-B1, X2783HSU-B3, and XB2783HSU-B3.
Ergonomics section says height adjustable for XB version.

Looking at the manuals for the height adjustable ones, doesn't give much detail. Sounds like they need a bit of force(ie not simply sliding). No button mentioned. Might need placing face down on soft material(towel?) to protect the screen and then push or pull as required.
