Business phone line
My wife has a business line which is at our house... we're moving and have been told that because we're moving more than 2 metres down the road (a slight exaggeration, but we are only moving 5 minutes away) we can't keep the number... that seems ridiculous - how can we run a business and then have to randomly change the phone number?

Re: Business phone line
Well you could be moving to somewhere on a different exchange, in which case that would be entirely correct.
However, I thought that these days numbers were portable, so I'm sure they could port it if they wanted. Get an 0345 type number, then moving never matters. (or get a Skype number, and redirect it, thats what I do). |
Re: Business phone line
Sounds like your supplier is talking row-locks to me - when we moved house 25 years ago (a distance of 1.7 miles as the crow flies) we transferred the number - it was on a different exchange.

Re: Business phone line
Yeah, because we're moving to a different postcode area (even though it's a mile down the road), they say it's a different exchange and that means we can't take the number... apparently they're looking into whether or not there's anything they do.... We've said that's fine, but if we need to change our business number, then we'll need to reconsider the viability of keeping the business line and other services with them, as well as our residential services. Will have to wait and see what happens.

Funnily enough they've come back and they've confirmed that we are able to keep the number....

Re: Business phone line
Ha! sometimes you have to make a big deal for them to solve the problem quickly.

Re: Business phone line
Strangely enough, I just asked to move my residential line as well, and keeping the number was automatic...
