Confirming that the upload signal is showing very low levels, like 4.5 instead of 45.

Re: Hub 3 updated
Glad I am still on 608, I guess I will dig out the black tape ready!
It's ridiculous so many people reporting this and no fix yet. |

Software version: 9.1.1802.610, no flashing lights but not noticed any change either. BQM looks good so far.

From V.M.
"The flashing red light is due to an issue we're aware of and the teams are working on getting it sorted asap. Sorry for any concern this may have caused. If you do experience any problems with the service, or if there's anything else we can help with please don't hesitate to let us know." |
Re: Hub 3 updated
Thee upstream power is a decimal point out! Who checks the firmware? A lock of product assurance.
Also nothing in the VM forums on what this release does/fixes. Typical. |
Re: Hub 3 updated
I think over the years I been with NTL/Virgin it's been a race to the bottom. Yes, they may keep speeds up, but it's become a poor place for Customer support and QA for firmware. As you say Seph they can't even produce firmware Version Release notes
You would nearly think they are only in it for the money …….. |

Was on ...608, but after reboot am now on 9.1.1802.610

Can you do a screenshot of your config page? Your test results are unexpected to say the least. Is this a trial? |

That is the unexpected. You also mentioned your 3.1.hub. That is also unexpected unless you are on a trial. |

I'm not getting your point about the speed test results vs the config? What's puzzling about it? Or are you saying that you're not aware of the 500/35 tier? |
Re: Hub 3 updated
Nope
|
Re: Hub 3 updated
Isn't there a 500/35 trial going on as we know there is going to be a Business tier of this and there is some kind of new tier trial going on for a few months for residential?

Can you do what others have said and post a screen grab of your config for 500/35 not just type it?
I believe you as there is a trial going on but it would be nice to see your config screen. |

|
Re: Hub 3 updated
Maybe it'll be a new tier as there is a trial for that going on.
|
Re: Hub 3 updated
Tbh as they keep doing price increases i would rather them just increase the speed of existing tiers so we dont have a quirky new name or something stupid like xxxxl. The 3 new tiers could be 100, 300 and 500.
|
Re: Hub 3 updated
Thank you for providing evidence.
Did your IP address change with the upgrade? I ask this because if they haven't given you a new IP, that, in my view, would indicate that they are trialling you without a dedicated connection. That in itself would be encouraging because it would suggest that VM are confident about providing the service on the network as it is. I was on a proof of concept trial some years years ago, (400/25) but was given a dedicated connection and different kit. |

Well seems I'm now in the trial as they are expanding it (pm today from the trials team) so I won't say no more. I swear VM work backwards.

Re: Hub 3 updated
Lucky you, i guess it is only the top tier that has been put in the trial.

I haven't

I'm on 200mbit and i did get the initial email about a 'New Tier Trial' which makes me think it will be an additional tier rather than a free upgrade, but with VM you can never tell. |
Re: Hub 3 updated
I never get emails for stuff like that, I would have trialled it for them and given it a run for its money.

Re: Hub 3 updated
On top tier and have had the latest firmware, but I am not on the trial yet.
|
Re: Hub 3 updated
Got this update overnight, still on 350/20 though.
I did apply for the same trial but didn't get in, doesnt appear to have been expanded to me (yet) |
Re: Hub 3 updated
Where do VM advertise their trials?

Re: Hub 3 updated
it just takes the piss doesn't it? Every time they release firmware there is a stupid obvious problem with it which they could easily have fixed prior to release.

Re: Hub 3 updated
You have to seriously wonder about the people that VM employ to write their software and their beta testers.

No change still showing as 9.1.1802.610 No indication whatsoever of the update to remove the flashing telephone indicator L.E.D. |
Re: Hub 3 updated
Today 10:15 Hub 3 stopped responding to BQM... everything else all ok.
Left it for a couple of hours, no change. Re-booted now fully functional. |
Re: Hub 3 updated
Apparently VM have updated my hub
We’ve just updated your Hub 3 with Intelligent WiFi technology. It adapts to your home to help deliver our most reliable WiFi signal. Now that Intelligent WiFi is live in your home, it’ll: Optimise itself to make sure your devices keep getting the best signal available Automatically switch your gadgets over to the quietest channel available Seamlessly move your devices to the best frequency for the room you’re in Share out your WiFi evenly, so your newer gadgets won’t be held back by older ones As part of this upgrade, you can use our Virgin Media Connect app to scan your home and check signal strength from room to room. If the app finds a WiFi blackspot we’ve missed, you can order another WiFi Booster at no extra cost right through the app. |
Re: Hub 3 updated
Is there anyone else seeing less yellow spikes on their BMQ graphs as mine is still relatively flat?

Re: Hub 3 updated
I also received the same notification that they have upgraded me to "Intelligent Wifi"... I haven't logged into the router itself yet to check what settings have changed however, I did truy to use the app to "optimise" my broadband and check for dead spots. As I have Devolo Powerlines around the house I wasn't expecting to find any dead spots however, as soon as I moved into a room with one of the Powerlines, the app said that it couldn't assess the room as it wasn't connected to the Router but to a "Home Networking device", even though all the SSID and passwords are the same as the routers. Not sure why I would get this error/message... surely the app is just checking the strength of WiFi in the room regardless of whether it's through a Powerline or from the router itself?
|
Re: Hub 3 updated
My professional advice, as. A person dealing with WiFi design and installation, is to turn the stupid new facility off. It willdrive you mad.
First, channel hopping is bad news when you are in flight unless, when you go to a new room, you’re not in the middle of anything. Second, VM’s record on getting firmware right isn’t exactly great. |
Re: Hub 3 updated
Good to know, Sephiroth... will turn off when I have a chance to look at the settings for the router.... shame there isn't a way to access the settings remotely (out of the local network)...
